Recording Canto de Ossanha (Written by Baden Powell & Vinicius de Moraes)
Photo: Helio Schiavo & Leco Reis
Canto de Ossanha, written by Baden Powell, is a song that evokes a lot of feelings in me. Being descendent of Africans e Europeans I find myself extremely connected with my African ancestors trough this song. I feel my feet on the ground and a strong sense of who I am. And I must count my blessings because the same drummer who recorded this song with Baden Powell was also my drummer. At the studio, we had so many musicians that there was no booth for me to record. I had to sing inside the engineer's room just to keep the tempo for the musicians. We liked so much my performance that we all decided to kept that way.
